We’ve divided them into 3 categories – the classics, books that are great for learning to read and some awesome up and coming authors that you may not have heard of...yet!

Where the Wild Things Are is fifty years old! Maurice Sendak's Caldecott Medal-winning picture book has become one of the most highly acclaimed and best-loved children's books of all time. A must for every child's bookshelf and one that was probably on all of our bookshelves as kids. This iconic story has inspired a movie, an opera, and the imagination of generations. This story focuses on a young boy named Max who, after dressing in his wolf costume, wreaks such havoc through his household that he is sent to bed without his supper. Max's bedroom undergoes a mysterious transformation into a jungle environment, and he winds up sailing to an island inhabited by malicious beasts known as the "Wild Things." After successfully intimidating the creatures, Max is hailed as the king of the Wild Things and enjoys a playful romp with his subjects. However, he starts to feel lonely and decides to return home, to the Wild Things' dismay. Upon returning to his bedroom, Max discovers a hot supper waiting for him.

Top 5 Books for Learning to Read
I mean, we couldn't make a list of the best books and not include our own, could we?
Our eBooks are specially designed to help kids pick up new vocabulary in each book. They are written in rhyme as this is a great way for kids to learn 'word families' (i.e. dog, log) and learn to read new words much faster! Another great series to get into when your child is starting their reading journey is 'Peter and Jane'. The Key Words Reading Scheme is a series of 36 English language early readers children's books, published by the British publishing company, Ladybird Books. The series are also often referred to as Peter and Jane, the names of the main characters. The books were designed as materials for teaching a small child to learn to read, using a system of key phrases and words devised by teacher William Murray.
What's great about this series is that it's written so simply so that the children can really focus on the words. Each series is a level up which is great for progressively building on what they have learnt already and monitoring reading progress.
Any first words book is great for starting a kid's reading journey. Roger Priddy’s Big Board First 100 Words is a perfect children’s book offering simple everyday words for infants and toddlers to develop their vocabulary.
